The aim of Science & Eternity is to produce short films (<3 mins long) to explore the interactions between ground-breaking science and the human experience.
These well-produced videos use evocative landscapes, inspirational music and intriguing narratives (based on interviews with leading academics), to engage viewers and invite them to think about what they think, and explore the subject further.
While religious faith isn’t explicitly drawn upon, each of the episodes contains material which is very well suited to scientific, philosophical, ethical, religious and personal reflection, as they highlight scientific breakthroughs and ideas which impact humanity and raise questions about what it means to be human.
These videos are suitable for teens who want to think about these ideas more for themselves, for science teachers looking for material which prompts discussion of the ‘personal, social, economic and environmental implications’ of science (required by the UK science curriculum), or for philosophy/ethics/religious education teachers wanting to connect their teaching points to tangible, real-world examples for classroom discussion. The videos focussed on AI, technology and memory may be particularly useful resources for these latter groups.
