Videos – Theos Think Tank

Theos is a Christian Think Tank which conducts research, publishes reports, and holds debates, seminars and lectures on the relationship between religion, politics and society in the contemporary world.

These well-produced videos, most of them animated, are engaging ways to get people thinking about  how science, worldviews and different religious ideas might help us explore our big questions and tackle global challenges.

While religious faith isn’t explicitly drawn upon in each video, each contains material which is very well suited to scientific, philosophical, ethical, religious and personal reflection. They are suitable for teens who want to think about these ideas more for themselves, for science teachers looking for material which prompts discussion of the ‘personal, social, economic and environmental implications’ of science (required by the UK science curriculum), or for philosophy/ethics/religious education teachers wanting to get thoughts flowing in class.

  • Worlds apart‘ is a short video which travels through a whirlwind of questions surrounding the science and religion debate. The film invites the viewer into the details of the conversations, where there is less conflict than it seems from far off.
  • Nobody stands nowhere‘ unpacks the idea of worldviews and invites people to consider how their own unique view of the world might co–exist with other, sometimes quite different, vantage points held by those around them.
  • Playing God: Science, Religion and the Future of Humanity‘ covers some of the cutting-edge questions in the field of science and religion – as explored in a recently published book called ‘Playing God’.
  • In Sync with the Sun‘ explores how productivity-boosting technologies contrast with the rhythms of waking and resting embedded in the natural world.
  • Just work‘ explores explores the current state of work, and asks if our modern anxiety might just have an ancient answer.
